Bill Moyer(not to be confused with the TV journalist Bill Moyers) developed the Movement Action Plan (MAP) a practical strategic model that describes how social movements work and evolve.
He co-authored the book Doing Democracy: The MAP Model for Organizing Social Movements and originated with Carol Perry the 'Creating Peaceful Relationships' workshop series.
Assistant to Rev. Martin Luther King, co-founder of the Movement for a New Society and founder of the Social Movement Empowerment Project (SMEP), Bill was a lifelong practitioner of non-violent political and social activism.
His lectures and workshops, models and ideas continue to empower progressive organizations around the world.
He died of cancer in 2002 at the age of 69.
